BARRIERS THRESHOLDS AND INTERCONNECTIONS

This project reimagines a clinical environment as a sensory-led journey of mental health recovery. Through a sequence of domed, circular and transitional spaces, the design guides users from containment to openness using light, water and material contrast to shape emotional experience.

Inspired by the PANTHEON (ROME), JAMES TURELL and SANAA, key spaces include a domed survival room, a chapel-like rest area, a material library and a pottery workshop within the former Mortuary and Coroners Court situated in Lewisham Lady well. The journey through the space proposes healing through spatial experience rather than clinical intervention.
